Today Marks 3

Happy Anniversary, Honey!

Three years ago today, Kelly and I "tied the knot" in good ol' Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club. Oh God, what glorious times those were! (again reminiscing the past - see entry below)

Now we are gaining momentum and refining our ways as we strive to be this well-oiled married machine. Ha!

I love you, Kelly.

And so tonight, Ethan, Kelly and I will celebrate with dinner at the Brasstown Valley Resort.

What a day, the morning being it's usual hectic rush to get out the door. But being Wednesday today, Kelly has her half day in the morning, and I go to to work in the afternoon, each taking turn to look after Ethan (currently napping). And in the rush and through breakfast, I forgot to wish Kelly a Happy Anniversary! And so I sent her a "text" message. :-D

We have a professional photo shoot for work today as well, and so busy all around.

How time just marches on...

Old Face, New Face

Wow, I've not blogged in a few days, and many things have gone on lately. Most recently, our friends Scott and Rosa got married on the beach at the outer banks here in NC this past weekend. CONGRATS you two! Can't wait to celebrate with you guys at your new place in Governor's Club -- posh! Enjoy the fancy-dancy waffle maker we got ya :-P

And also here from out of town to attend this wedding was our other dear friends the Lakhanis (Vipul, Carmel, Kavi and baby girl). We got to hang out with them despite their busy schedule to meet up with as many friends and family as possible, and not to mention make it to the coast for S and R's wedding and back for the airport. We saw their little one, Kavi, who's actuallly not so little anymore.


The last time I saw Kavi was about 8 months ago when I went to Nashville, TN, for a regional Baha'i conference. Then, he was doing the babbling thing, and the eating solids (he loves strawberries!) and standing when holding on to furniture etc.. But boy has he grown! He is now a full toddler with awesome mobility :-D He runs, and talks, and gets nervous, and throws tantrums (but what toddler doesn't). Love you!


The whirlwind of a trip for them ended with some picture taking at our place, with Amani over also. It was far too short of a stay, but we look forward to meeting up in July for Kelly's birthday, August for the Tennessee summer Baha'i school (for kids and youth), and/or September for Ethan's 1-year birthday. Regardless, by then we will have moved to our new place in Blue Ridge Georgia and will be only a short 3 hour drive away from them! Yay :-D Vipul is on the organizing committee for the summer school and so we'll try and be there to show support for sure.

Brave At Heart: A Scottish Wedding

Well done, Ian and Fiona! You both look radiant -- well, Fiona is stunning anyways :-p Good lad, Ian. You've finally joined the ol' (hitched) boys club. May you both have a lifetime of happiness as you embark on life's adventures, together.

I first met Ian in October 2000, when I moved to Dundee (Scotland) to do my PhD -- though we became better friends a bit later on. Ian officially gave me the whirlwind tour of Scotland, when we drove along the east, north then west coasts of the beautifully rugged nation. All in one weekend. And we even managed to hike up a couple hills during that trip. Hard to believe it has been that many years ago now.

CONGRATULATIONS to you both! And visit us in the Blue Ridge mountains of Georgia!

Firebirds Rocky Mountain Grill

Kelly and I celebrated our 2-year wedding anniversary with dinner for two at Firebirds at Southpoint. And what an evening to be outdoors at all. It is storming. Wind. Rain. Chill. Brrrrrrrrrrr....

We tried to park as close to the restaurant as possible, but the parking lots were surprisingly full for a Tuesday, stormy evening. So, it was inevitable that we brave the elements at least for a little way. Somewhat wet, but very cold, we made it inside the cozy mountain cabin ambience of Firebirds.

This was Kelly and my second time at the Rocky Mountain dining place. The first time was nearly three years ago when we were both new to the area. I can still vaguely remember, it was dinner with Fariba, Carmel and Vipul. Yea, I can remember confiding in Vipul my guilty indulgence in buying a ginormous TV. Oh the good times.

Our host was an Asian. It was nice to have a bunch of young, diverse hosts and hostesses at this fine joint. Kelly ordered an herb baked half chicken that came with mashed potatoes and green beans and garnished with rosemary. I ordered a 14oz. ribeye, medium-rare, that came with sauteed veggies. The steak was very woody and peppered. It was ok. I would have appreciated it more if I had a bigger appetite. I was sort of full already before dinner.
