Tooth Matters

A root canal? Argh! I may have to get one. After scheduling my totally overdue (we're talking years) dental appointment, I was told, today, by my dentist, that I may have to get a root canal.

You see, I have this one tooth that has decayed quite a bit. You can never tell from the outside because the decay is present all under a filling I had done years ago. And the decay is such that simply getting a new filling will no longer support the tooth long-term. Instead, another option is to get a crown (porcelain/gold) put in place, but this involves first getting rid of all the decaying matter, which may expose the root and hence may call for a root canal if long term pain persists from the (crown placement) procedure.

What to do?

Brushing is never enough, and even still, how you brush and what type of toothbrush you use are apparently just as important as how often. And there is the issue of flossing which is such a pain. But the irony is the pain is likely about to get worse and is just starting.
